About Marinade
Marinade, founded by Lucio Tato and launched in 2021, is a staking protocol on the Solana blockchain that offers both native and liquid staking with mSOL tokens. It aims to decentralize the network by distributing stakes to smaller validators and simplifies the crypto staking process for users. The platform is designed to enhance user experience in DeFi and promote cryptocurrency adoption by making staked assets liquid and accessible.
The $MNDE token within Marinade has multiple roles. It enables holders to participate in governance decisions, contributes to revenue generation through management and unstaking fees, and is involved in an MEV bandwidth marketplace, mTransaction. Additionally, locking $MNDE tokens grants veMNDE, aligning with the platform's DAO governance model. This makes Marinade a key player in the Solana ecosystem, offering effective staking solutions and community-driven governance.
The $MNDE token serves several purposes in the Marinade ecosystem:
Governance: MNDE token holders have governance rights, allowing them to participate in decision-making processes regarding the treasury and protocol through on-chain voting. The DAO governance was launched in April 2022, with the governance platform migrating to Realms in July 2023 for direct control by MNDE holders.
Revenue Generation for the Protocol: Marinade generates revenue through management fees from the liquid staking pool, instant unstaking fees from its SOL liquidity pool, and yield from active positions in Solana DeFi.
Participation in MEV Bandwidth Marketplace: Marinade is piloting mTransaction, an MEV bandwidth marketplace, where validators can participate.
Locking for veMNDE: MNDE holders can lock their tokens in Realms to obtain veMNDE, which aligns with the DAO Constitution ratified by the holders, outlining Marinade's goals and operations.
