SHAPE is primarily used for protocol governance. According to Shape’s published materials, holders can use the token to participate in governance processes related to the network, including proposing, voting and delegating on protocol matters such as upgrades and parameter changes.

Shape also describes SHAPE as part of its longer-term decentralisation model. Its published documentation states that the token is intended to be used in staking-based systems connected to validator and sequencer participation, subject to governance decisions and implementation over time.

Shape’s documentation highlights features such as Gasback and developer tooling, including infrastructure for AI agents to access Shape-specific onchain data.
