$GAL, the native token of the Galxe ecosystem, serves multiple functions:

Governance: $GAL is utilized for voting and governance within the Galxe DAO. Holders of the GAL token can influence decisions regarding the platform fee and the management of the Galxe Community Treasury.

Payment for Services: Developers looking to use Galxe’s credential data through Application Modules are subject to a platform fee, payable in GAL. This fee applies to every interaction with the Galxe Protocol. While a significant portion of this fee is allocated to curators, the remainder goes to the Galxe Community Treasury. It's noteworthy that these fees are currently waived during beta testing.

Galxe Oracle Engine and Credential API: Developers are required to pay in GAL for querying credential data through the Galxe Oracle Engine and the Galxe Credential API. Similar to Application Module fees, these query fees are also waived during the beta testing phase.

Curating Digital Credentials: The GAL token is instrumental for curators who signal the value of different credential data sets. Curators can purchase stakes in these data sets, with revenue streams split pro-rata among stakeholders. The buying and selling of these stakes are governed by a bonding curve, meaning early investment in popular data sets can be more profitable. This mechanism incentivizes curators to identify and invest in valuable credential data sets, contributing to the overall richness and utility of the network's data.
