Ctrl Wallet (CTRL) is a multi-chain, non-custodial cryptocurrency wallet that supports over 2,100 blockchains. The CTRL token facilitates network fee payments, governance, and employs a deflationary model. Founded in 2020 by Emile Dubié, Ctrl Wallet underwent a rebranding from XDEFI Wallet and has since grown its user base significantly.
Ctrl Wallet's ecosystem utilises the CTRL token for various functions. Primarily, CTRL is used to cover network fees, allowing users to execute transactions on different chains without needing to hold the native asset for each network. The CTRL token also has governance capabilities, enabling holders to vote on certain decisions affecting the wallet’s development. A deflationary mechanism is incorporated into the token’s structure: a portion of the wallet’s revenue and liquidity provider fees are allocated towards buying and burning CTRL tokens, reducing its circulating supply over time.
Ctrl Wallet was initially launched in 2020 under the name XDEFI Wallet. It was founded by Emile Dubié, who currently serves as CEO, with backing from investors such as Mechanism Capital, Delphi Digital, and Morningstar Ventures. The project rebranded to Ctrl Wallet to reflect the platform’s revised direction and updated token model. Since its launch, Ctrl Wallet has grown to serve several hundred thousand users globally.
