About Arbitrum

Arbitrum is a protocol that makes Ethereum transactions faster and cheaper using two core protocols, Arbitrum Rollup and Arbitrum AnyTrust. It has two primary chains: Arbitrum One and Arbitrum Nova. The ARB governance token is used to decentralize the governance of Arbitrum and its underlying protocols. It represents membership in the Arbitrum DAO and enables token holders to participate in the governance process by voting on proposals. Arbitrum's governance is driven by the Security Council and the Arbitrum DAO, a global community of ARB token holders and their delegates. This decentralized governance system ensures decisions align with the community's best interests.
The Arbitrum One (ARB) token is a governance token that represents membership in the Arbitrum DAO (decentralized autonomous organization). ARB token holders can participate in the governance process by voting on proposals related to the development and management of the Arbitrum protocols and chains. Holding ARB gives token holders the ability to influence the direction the Arbitrum ecosystem and contribute to its decentralized future. The ARB token is distinct from ETH, Ethereum's native token, in its purpose and function. While ETH is a transactional token used to pay for transaction fees on the Ethereum network, ARB is specifically designed for governing the Arbitrum protocols and chains.

Arbitrum's governance is driven by two main governing bodies: the Security Council and the Arbitrum DAO.

  • The Security Council is a 12-member council elected by the Arbitrum DAO members. This council focuses on maintaining the security and performance of the Arbitrum ecosystem by applying emergency actions when necessary.
  • The Arbitrum DAO is the global community of ARB token holders and their chosen delegates. This DAO is responsible for governing Arbitrum and its Security Council. The DAO can modify the Security Council's powers or even eliminate it entirely through constitutional proposals.

ARB token holders can participate in the governance process by voting on proposals directly or by delegating their voting power to delegates who represent their interests. This decentralized governance system ensures that decisions made within the Arbitrum ecosystem align with the community's best interests, rather than relying solely on a centralized group of decision-makers.

What Happened After Arbitrum Airdrop Changed Everything

What Happened After Arbitrum Airdrop Changed Everything

Arbitrum (ARB) is the native governance token of the largest Ethereum rollup network. The March 23, 2023 Arbitrum airdrop sent over 1.16 billion ARB to roughly 625,000 wallets, setting the template every later rollup copied for points-based eligibility and DAO governance. Three years on, ARB trades around $0.125 with a market cap near $770 million, down 95% from its $2.39 all-time high. But the network the airdrop seeded has $1.65 billion in TVL, 2.1 billion cumulative transactions, and partnerships with Robinhood, BlackRock, and Franklin Templeton. The same Security Council that token holders elected through the airdrop froze 30,766 ETH tied to the April KelpDAO exploit, then handed half its seats to a new cohort taking office May 21. This retrospective covers what the airdrop built, what it didn't, and how the next governance phase will be tested by STEP 2.0 RWA allocations and ongoing legal exposure around the frozen KelpDAO ETH.

BORA Isn't What You Think and That's Actually the Point

METABORA GAMES launched a gamer engagement platform with mission-based play content, downloadable mini games, and in-game incentives on March 31. Silence. Deathly silence. That non-reaction speaks volumes about one of cryptocurrency's most stubborn branding problems. Search "bora bora currency" on Google and you'll find resort prices instead of developer blogs.

Building on Fraxtal Versus Every Other Ethereum L2 in 2026

Building on Fraxtal Versus Every Other Ethereum L2 in 2026

Fraxtal's goal was a $100 billion TVL by the end of 2026. Realistically, it's closer to $17.6 million. That's a difference of approximately 99.98%. And while it begs the question any developer looking at this L2 should be asking, does Fraxtal offer enough unique tooling to build on over Arbitrum, Optimism, or Base? The answer varies if what you're building cares more about native stablecoin infrastructure than raw numbers of users.
