About Wrapped MistCoin

Wrapped MistCoin (WMC) is an Ethereum token introduced in 2022 to enhance the functionality of the historic MistCoin token by making it fully compliant with the ERC-20 standard. The wrapper contract enables MistCoin holders to trade and interact with WMC on decentralised platforms like Uniswap, bringing modern DeFi capabilities to one of Ethereum’s earliest tokens. WMC represents the evolution of MistCoin, originally created by Fabian Vogelsteller and Alex Van de Sande in 2015.

Wrapped MistCoin (WMC) is primarily used to make the historic MistCoin token compatible with modern decentralised finance (DeFi) applications and decentralised exchanges (DEXs). By wrapping MistCoin into WMC, holders gain access to trading, liquidity provision, and other DeFi functionalities that require ERC-20 compliance.

While the original MistCoin lacked key ERC-20 functions like approve and transferFrom, the wrapper contract allows seamless integration with Ethereum-based platforms. WMC is used by blockchain enthusiasts and collectors who wish to hold, trade, or interact with a token that represents an important part of Ethereum's early history.

Wrapped MistCoin (WMC) was created by Ethereum developers to update and extend the functionality of the original MistCoin. While MistCoin itself was developed in 2015 by Fabian Vogelsteller and Alex Van de Sande, the wrapper contract for WMC was deployed in July 2022.
