About RocketPool

RocketPool (RPL) is a decentralized Ethereum staking pool that enables users to participate in ETH2 staking regardless of their investment size or technical expertise. It provides liquid staking and operates through a network of decentralized nodes, using open-source, audited smart contracts for non-custodial staking. Users can stake ETH and receive rETH, a tokenized form of staked ETH, which accrues rewards based on the network's performance. RocketPool uses insurance mechanisms and requires node operators to stake RPL as collateral to protect against penalties.
RocketPool was founded by David Rugendyke, who also serves as the CTO of the platform. The project was officially launched in 2021, carving out a unique space in the decentralized finance ecosystem with its Proof of Stake service.

The RocketPool token (RPL) has a central role in the RocketPool network's operations. This Ethereum-based token is used within an automatic adjustment mechanism where Smart nodes on the network report their status and server load every 15 minutes. Moreover, RPL is used for staking on the platform, allowing holders to participate in the network's consensus mechanism and earn rewards. The platform also offers a third-party API for businesses interested in featuring a Proof of Stake service, further enhancing the utility of RPL within the RocketPool ecosystem.
