The PIPE token is the utility asset of the Pipe Network and provides coordination across its distributed infrastructure. It powers payments, staking, governance, and incentives for node operators and users throughout the ecosystem.

Node rewards: PIPE compensates CDN and storage node operators for providing bandwidth, routing, and storage services. Network payments: Developers and enterprises use PIPE to pay for bandwidth consumption, Firestarter Storage capacity, and access to routing services. Governance: Token holders participate in proposals and votes that shape the network’s evolution and technical parameters. Staking: Node operators stake PIPE to demonstrate reliability and access higher-tier workloads and rewards. Verification and auditing: PIPE supports a verification model that rewards high-performance nodes while penalising those providing inaccurate or insufficient service. PIPE acts as the settlement and coordination mechanism across all layers of the infrastructure, aligning incentives between resource providers and users.

Pipe Network is built on three interoperable infrastructure layers that work together to provide efficient and verifiable data delivery.

Pipe CDN: A distributed content delivery layer where PoP nodes cache and serve data to users closest to their geographic location. This reduces latency and congestion while increasing efficiency across the network. Firestarter Storage: A decentralized storage solution that supports client-side encryption, redundancy, and tiered storage options. It serves as the origin data layer for the CDN, allowing users to securely store and retrieve data through encrypted node networks. P1 Overlay Network: A dynamic routing protocol that continuously optimises paths between nodes. It measures network conditions such as latency, throughput, and packet loss to automatically determine the most efficient routes for data transmission. These layers form a complete data infrastructure stack that can be deployed publicly or privately, bridging Web2 and Web3 environments. Developers interact with the network using Pipe’s APIs, which provide data delivery, analytics, and verification endpoints.
