NLC2 serves multiple functions within its ecosystem:

Please note that the official project consistently refers to the token as NLC2, yet contracts have been issued under NLC, and there appear to have been one or more migrations whose details remain unclear. The whitepaper describes a PoS blockchain dating back to 2016, while tweets from the project mention new networks on different dates without specifying whether these were genuine migrations or merely expansions. The current website lists three contracts (ETH, BSC, and POL) and describes itself as a PoS blockchain, adding to the confusion. An old article mentions that an exchange mistakenly traded an outdated version, but it didn’t specify which one.
