GUN is used as the utility token within the GUNZ blockchain ecosystem. Its primary functions include:

• Transaction Fees: GUN is used to cover fees for operations on the GUNZ chain, such as minting, trading, or transferring in-game items and NFTs.
• Asset Settlement: In-game purchases and secondary market transactions involving digital assets on GUNZ are settled using GUN.
• Blockchain Governance and Validation: Although initially permissioned, the roadmap includes eventual community involvement through validator staking, where GUN may be used to participate in securing the network.
• Interoperability with Game Systems: GUN underpins smart contract execution and backend logic that supports game mechanics like item drops, ownership verification, and on-chain item stats.

GUNZ was created by Gunzilla Games, a game development studio founded in 2020 by Vlad Korolov. The studio includes experienced developers from companies like Crytek, Ubisoft, and EA. Gunzilla Games developed Off the Grid, a narrative-driven battle royale game, as the first title to use the GUNZ blockchain infrastructure.

The technical implementation of the GUNZ chain was built in collaboration with Ava Labs, leveraging Avalanche's Subnet-EVM framework.
