About Bitcoin Classic
Initially, Bitcoin Classic sought to address Bitcoin’s scalability issues by increasing the block size. This was intended to make the network capable of handling more transactions and thus decrease the fees and time required per transaction, aiming to foster greater adoption of Bitcoin for everyday transactions. After its initial phase and shutdown, the project pivoted towards creating a more versatile framework capable of supporting smart contracts and decentralized applications (DApps) on the Ethereum blockchain, thereby expanding its utility beyond just transaction processing.
The official Bitcoin Classic ticker is “BXC” and trades under that name on all the exchanges where it has been listed. The designation “BITCOINC” is for CryptoCompare.com only.
