About Swell Network
Swell Network (SWELL) is a decentralised liquid staking protocol on Ethereum, allowing users to stake ETH and use derivative tokens for additional DeFi opportunities. Governed by the Swell DAO, the protocol’s SWELL token enables community governance, including participation in decision-making for protocol upgrades and reward mechanisms.
Swell Network is primarily used for staking Ethereum, providing users with a way to earn staking rewards while maintaining liquidity. Users can stake ETH through Swell, and in return, they receive liquid staking tokens that represent their staked assets. These tokens can be utilised in the broader DeFi ecosystem for activities such as lending, borrowing, and yield farming, effectively allowing stakers to earn compounded rewards. Additionally, SWELL token holders participate in the governance of the Swell DAO, influencing key protocol decisions, including updates, reward distributions, and staking mechanisms.
However, the Swell Network project and DAO were developed by Swell Labs, a group of blockchain developers and contributors committed to advancing Ethereum’s staking capabilities and decentralised governance. The DAO structure itself relies on a decentralised governance model, empowering the community of SWELL token holders to participate actively in protocol management and evolution.
