The native token of Darwinia Network, RING, serves multiple functions within the network. It incentivizes block authors, covers transaction fees, and facilitates community governance. The token model incorporates Native Tokens (RING) and Staked Tokens (KTON), each playing specific roles. RING enables users to pay for cross-chain message transactions, engage in on-chain governance, and lock tokens to operate collator nodes. The RING token is also employed as a gas payment for transactions, contract executions, network bandwidth, storage, etc., across the Darwinia system. The KTON token, a derivative of RING, is generated when users stake their RING tokens for periods ranging from 3 to 36 months, rewarding their long-term commitment to the network's security​​​​.

Integration with Ethereum

Darwinia Network's chains are built on the Substrate framework, underpinning Polkadot, and include an Ethereum-compatible layer called Frontier.
