Pepecoin (PEPE) is an ERC20 token on the Ethereum blockchain that operates as an L2 (Layer 2) solution for the Memetic (MEME) blockchain. Created in 2016, Pepecoin enables users to create, share, and trade their favorite memes and RAREPEPES for PEPE or MEME tokens. With negligible fees, users can tokenize their memes and create unique NFTs, facilitating easy transactions and trades.

Notable features of the Memetic platform include the PEPE token, which allows users to create and trade rare memes on a decentralized exchange, and use PEP to create NFTs to share with the community. MasterToads require a 15,000 MEME investment, enabling users to run their own nodes, strengthen, and secure the PepeCoin blockchain. MasterToads receive 37.5% of a newly minted block as payment. A bridge to exchange MEME for PEPE is under development and will be available soon at pepeco.in.

The Proof of Meme (PoM) feature in the Qt wallet enables users to hash an image and, for a fee of 1 Pepecoin, receive a private key that proves ownership of the hashed image, along with the date and time it was saved publicly on the blockchain.
