Matrix One

The MATRIX token serves multiple functions within the Matrix One ecosystem:

• Medium of Exchange: Used for transactions in the Character Marketplace, where users can buy and sell tokenised AI agents, scenes, emotes, voices and clothing.
• Incentivisation: Contributors - including creators, app users, developers and compute providers - are rewarded in MATRIX tokens based on their participation.
• Governance: Holders of MATRIX tokens have the right to participate in governance processes, voting on proposals related to platform features and community fund allocation.
• Access and Utility: Required to access various tools and functionalities across the protocol, including advanced AI agent customisation and integration options.
• Staking: Token holders can stake their MATRIX in the official staking portal to earn rewards, with increasing annual percentage yields (APY) based on the staking duration. Staked tokens also confer enhanced ecosystem privileges and future governance rights.
• Community Engagement: Through the Neos Points Programme, users can earn MATRIX via engagement tasks across Matrix One platforms like Avatar.One, Discord and social channels.

Matrix One was founded by Mark Studholme, who leads a team with experience in AI, gaming, Web3 technologies and scalable platform development. The core team includes professionals specialising in marketing, finance, operations, content, product development and engineering.

The project has attracted support from a range of investors across the AI, blockchain and immersive web sectors. Notable backers include Animoca Brands, Digital Currency Group (DCG), Sfermion, Inception (formerly OP Crypto), Hypersphere, Polygon Studios and Ascensive Assets. Additionally, founders and key figures from projects such as The Sandbox, WilderWorld, Rarible and Polkastarter have participated in funding rounds.
