GUSD is a digital investment certificate launched by Gate in August 2025. It is pegged 1:1 to the US dollar but differs from traditional stablecoins by being yield-bearing. GUSD is minted by converting USDT or USDC at a 1:1 ratio via the “On-chain Earn” section on the Gate platform. It is backed by a mix of low-risk real-world assets (RWAs) such as US Treasury bonds, ecosystem revenues from Gate, and selected reference stablecoins. Gate caps individual minting at US$5 million per user.

The token combines reserve-backed stability with passive income, designed for users seeking returns without leaving the digital asset environment. GUSD can be traded directly on Gate’s spot market and used as collateral for leveraged trading within the platform.

GUSD is primarily used as a yield-generating instrument within Gate’s ecosystem. Upon issuance, holders receive a base annualised yield of 4.4%, with automatic daily compounding credited to users’ spot accounts. Redemption is available in USDC at a 1:1 ratio, with two withdrawal options: standard (0.05% fee, up to 3 days) or fast (0.1% fee, ~10 minutes).

Beyond passive yield, users can deploy GUSD in Gate Launchpool campaigns to earn additional rewards in other project tokens. Some pools have offered high annualised returns, creating a “dual-yield” model - base yield plus optional mining incentives. GUSD is also integrated into spot trading pairs (e.g. BTC/GUSD, ETH/GUSD), margin collateral in unified accounts, and flexible savings under Gate’s “Earn” product line.

GUSD was created by Gate Technology Inc., the operator of the Gate exchange platform. The token was launched in August 2025 as part of Gate’s broader strategy to combine decentralised finance tools with traditional financial asset exposure. Gate is responsible for the issuance, management, and integration of GUSD across its ecosystem.

To build trust, Gate commits to publishing regular proof-of-reserve reports for GUSD, issued by banks or verified partners. The goal is to ensure each GUSD token is fully backed by low-risk real assets and ecosystem income sources. Gate’s operational role includes managing liquidity, redemption mechanisms, and yield distribution.
