GPS Token

GPS Token (GPS) was the native cryptocurrency of the GPS Gamification Ecosystem. It functioned as the utility and governance token, enabling users to earn rewards, interact with applications, stake for governance, and participate in the development of decentralised applications (DApps) on the ecosystem.

The total supply of GPS Tokens was capped at 1,000,000,000, with allocations set aside for staking rewards, governance, development grants, and incentivisation. Initially, it was distributed via the Triffic app, where users could convert in-game rewards (Miles) into GPS Tokens.

GPS Tokens were designed for multiple gamification and financial use cases, including:

• In-Game Rewards – Used to reward users for movement, engagement, and location-based interactions.
• NFT Marketplaces – Enabled the creation and trading of NFTs with lower transaction costs compared to Ethereum-based marketplaces.
• Governance – GPS holders could vote on proposals and the distribution of GPS grants via the GPS Foundation.
• Loyalty Programs & Local Currencies – Businesses could use GPS to create branded loyalty points and community-backed digital currencies.
• Fan Tokens & Collectibles – Allowed influencers and businesses to issue their own tokenised assets.
• Staking – Users could stake GPS to enhance earnings in applications, vote in governance, and receive new DApp tokens.

The GPS Gamification Ecosystem was developed by Coinerz Group, a company focused on integrating blockchain with gamification. The project operated in partnership with Jelurida, the company responsible for developing Ardor and Nxt blockchain technologies. While Coinerz Group led the project, Jelurida maintained the blockchain infrastructure supporting the GPS Token.

The project initially distributed GPS Tokens via an airdrop to Ignis holders in 2019 and launched the Triffic App as a core distribution mechanism.
