BounceBit BTC (BBTC) is a liquid custody token (LCT) pegged 1:1 to Bitcoin and native to the BounceBit proof-of-stake Layer‑1 blockchain. It functions like a wrapped Bitcoin, enabling BTC holders to engage in staking and restaking activities across the BounceBit ecosystem.
Staking & restaking: Holders can stake BBTC with validators to earn a liquid staking derivative (LSD) token (e.g. stBBTC), which can then be restaked into shared security clients, BTC bridges, oracle systems, and data availability layers
Yield from CeFi and DeFi: The platform combines centralized finance custody sources with decentralized staking mechanisms, allowing BBTC holders to earn yield through both on-chain and off-chain systems
Governance participation: Token BB (native to BounceBit) is used jointly with BTC to validate the network. BBTC helps bootstrap security and aligns incentives within dual-token consensus
